We’re delighted to share some exciting developments at Ģý. Precision Colour Media has acquired Ģý, bringing with it renewed investment and a strong commitment to further enhancing our capabilities across both print and finishing.

Next month, we will be taking delivery of an eight-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 with CutStar reel sheeter, a significant addition to our sheetfed capabilities.

This investment will enable us to offer:

  • Greater flexibility across a wider range of work

  • Cost-effective production of more specialised projects

  • Consistently high-quality output with faster turnaround times

Press-finished products

In addition, we will have rotary trimming fully operational by the end of April allowing us to produce press-finished products more efficiently.

Enhanced Finishing Capabilities

We have also made further investments in our finishing department, including:

  • Stitching lines

  • Multiple folders

  • Palamides delivery systems

  • Strappers and guillotine

These have already arrived on site and will be fully operational in the coming weeks, supported by new air extraction systems for our rotary trimmers — ensuring a high-quality and efficient production environment.

As always, we remain committed to supporting you, our valued customers. If you have an upcoming project, we would be delighted to provide a competitive quotation and discuss how our new capabilities can benefit you.

At Ģý, we’re committed to keeping our customers informed about any changes that could impact the delivery of their magazines, brochures, and other printed materials.

Royal Mail has recently received approval to revise its Universal Service Obligation (USO), which outlines the delivery standards for mail in the UK. We want to ensure you’re aware of the key changes and how they may affect your deliveries.

What’s Changing?

While 1st Class Mail will remain unaffected, and will continue six days a week, Monday to Saturday, changes will take place to Royal Mail’s 2nd Class Service.

This will see 2nd Class Mail delivered on alternate weekdays based on a geographical rotation.

Delivery days will follow this pattern:

  • Week one: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • Week two: Tuesday, Thursday

The pattern will then repeat. The rotation will vary based on location.

A possible scenario would be that London receives deliveries on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in week one, then Tuesday and Thursday in week two. Meanwhile, Manchester receives deliveries on Tuesday and Thursday in week one, followed by Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in week two.

Also, Saturday will no longer be a delivery day for Royal Mail’s 2nd Class Service.

What Does This Mean for You?

  • Delivery Time Frames

Although delivery schedules are changing, Royal Mail continues to adhere to its delivery timelines for 2nd Class Mail, which remains at 2-3 working days.

For example, if your job leaves our head office on a Thursday, London may receive it on Monday, while Manchester may receive it on Tuesday, depending on the rotation.

  • Planning Ahead

With the new delivery schedule for 2nd Class and the removal of Saturday deliveries for Economy mail, we recommend planning ahead to avoid any potential delays.

  • Effective Date

These changes will come into effect from 7th July, or the date which Ofcom approves, whichever is later.

How We’re Supporting You

We’re monitoring these changes closely to ensure minimal disruption to your deliveries. Our team is ready to assist with any questions you may have and provide guidance on planning your mailing schedule to align with the new delivery patterns.

Need More Information?

If you have any questions about the new Royal Mail delivery schedule and how it might impact your specific deliveries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Commercial Mailing Co-ordinator at michaelowen@pcpltd.net

We’re here to help! Get in touch with us today.

Thank you for your continued trust in Ģý. We remain dedicated to ensuring your deliveries are managed as seamlessly as possible.

We have always been committed to supporting our teams with continuous professional development throughout their career path and growth journey, recognising how continual development enhances current skill sets.

And the last 18 months has proven no exception as we celebrate Sean Barratt, Ģý’s CI Engineer’s achievement in completing the ‘Six Sigma Green Belt’ qualification.

The Certified Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) Green Belt is awarded to individuals that possesses a thorough understanding of enhanced problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) model.

Sean Barratt comments.

“Iwanted to develop my skill setand open up more opportunities for me to progress in my career and this qualification has given me some really good tools to manage improvement projects using the DMAIC structure, and I have already started to put the knowledge I have gained into practice.

Not only this but Ģý will benefit too, problems will be defined and resolved using the DMAIC structure, if problems aren’t defined and resolved correctly at the start of a project the root cause gets overlooked which can end up costly to the business.”

With the support from both his family and Ģý Sean successfully achieved this qualification whilst working full time including working extra hours to support business needs.

Sean continues.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working towards gaining this qualification with the greatest challenge trying to fit the 50hrs studying aroundbalancing a young family. However, I’m definitely looking to gaina black belt & ultimately a master black belt in the future.”
